so, i'll be disappearing to serve my country tomorrow.
y'know. national service. going away for two weeks.
thoughts? mixed.
axnious, nervous.
yeah, and a little scared.
all in all it's pretty negative.
i hear it'll be great though. it's going to be the "best time of my life".
we'll see.
ciao, blog. 'till five years from now when i bother to get back to you.
gordon out.
it would help if the darn camp wasn't next to a cemetery...

ZED: I need to ask you,
ZED: Can you explain what tertiary education is?
GEE: It's whatever you'll be studying since you graduated from secondary school.
ZED: So not seconadry school education itself?
GEE: Nope.
ZED: Oh okay I see.

30 minutes...?
so yesterday i was supposed to meet a friend at his workplace.
and i was a tad late. also, he works downtown.
so as usual, i got a little lost.
when i finally got my bearings and walked briskly down the crowded street, i noticed a woman standing by the side of the street eagerly scanning the crowd, clipboard in hand.
and apprently, i'd caught her eye.
naturally i thought, 'she's going to make me take a survey'.
i hate having to write things and standing in the middle of a busy street. let alone at the same time.
'walk faster, me.'
as i briskly strolled past, i tried to blend into a small crowd of people ahead.
after a couple of seconds, i casually turned around to look over my shoulder to see if i had lost my pursuer. i mean, survey takers could just find anyone, and i am in a CROWD. maybe she'll also notice i've got earphones plugged in and give up.
... nope.
there she was, almost jogging to keep up with me and trying to get me to stop. so feeling a little guilty/embarrased (or a possible combination of the two) i obediently did so, taking one of the earphones out so i could hear what she wanted.
i found this next bit very odd.
now apparently, she was looking for people to do freelance modelling.
and me, dressed in my "i'm probably overdressed for a walk in the town" shirt must've been making me stand out for some reason. so after a couple personal questions, she hands me her card, said something along the lines of "we'll call you tomorrow", and hurried back to her post some distance away.
so the next day- today - the agency called at around lunch. the female voice on the other end said to bring a photo of myself and come down to the studio tomorrow.
now i don't know if i'm supposed to bring like... a head shot or something, but i'm going to settle for a picture i took at Universal Studios while i was visiting the USofA.
anyways, i'm heading down there tomorrow.
i'll post it here if it turns out well.
gordon out.
... heeey... i might be a model..

15 minutes
so i got interviewed earlier this week.
if it turns out to be good i might even scan the page in and post it here.
then again i've got low self-esteem, so maybe not.
... meeeh. that's all.
it's been a slow week.
gordon out.

where for art myself?
now, Singapore is a small country.
like, really small. there are only a couple of places where you can go to experience the lifestyle.
and i frequently get lost in all of them.
i don't know if it's how i've been raised or anything, but i don't remember places very well.
maybe it's because my dad always drove us around to get to places when i was little, so i didn't actually have to pay attention to how we got there. i think it's become a habit.
even when i'm with my friends and we're walking to some place, i never actually noticed the route. i just kinda... let them guide me around.
so when i'm late or whatever, i usually have to call and ask for directions.
which is odd, if say... you were there the day before.
conversations normally go like this:
"hello?"
"yeah, where did you say we were meeting again?"
"paragon."
"oh, right... um... paragon's the place that's opposite that other place, right?"
"... sure?"
"i'm at orchard station now. which way do i exit by again?"
"exit C, then turn right."
"i knew that."
... ...
"where's exit C, again?"
"we just walked there yesterday."
"... ... ... i know."
then he'd sigh and poke fun at me when i get there.
it's become common practice now. i'm sure my friends are used to it.
... kinda.
